Since my retirement, my passions are nature photography (especially bird photography), landscape photography, and travel photography.
I have traveled and photographed sites along the Lewis and Clark Trail, the Oregon Trail, the Mormon Trail, the Santa Fe Trail, and the Bozeman Trail. I have photographed Abraham Lincoln sites throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. Most recently I have begun visiting and photographing Civil War battlefields and museums throughout the country
My bird and wildlife photography has taken me to sites throughout the state of Illinois and also to sites throughout the state of Florida.
I have participated in 50 Elderhostel / Road Scholar programs throughout the country and many of my photo galleries shows memories of those wonderful experiences.
I am a lucky man to have had a job that I loved teaching biology in high school for 33 years and now I love my travel and photography "retirement". Please enjoy my photo galleries.
I typically travel to Florida to photograph birds. While standing with my tripod set up and looking my lenses for interesting bird photography opportunities, the most common question I get??? "See any gators?".
I do often see alligators and here are some examples of gators I've encountered.
As a lifetime resident of Illinois which is called "The Prairie State". In the past century and a half, 99%+ of the orginal prairie has disappeared replaced by agriculture and development. Fortunately attempts are being made to rebuild pockets of prairie habitat throughout the state. This summer I have been walking through a few of those pockets photographing the smaller inhabitants. This photo gallery features some of the beautiful BUTTERFLIES which inhabit the area and add immense beauty in the lives of those who will take the time to appreciate them.
I have lived most of my life in Illinois, the Prairie State. Much of my photography has been done outside of the state. This summer I have made it my business to spend hours walking in areas where the original prairie is being reestablished. This photo collection highlights DRAGONFLIES, the prairie predators, which feed primarily on other insects in the prairie environment.
While attending an Elderhostel in Chadron, Nebraska I spent time photographing wildlife and waterfalls in the Valentine area (Fort Niobrara and Valentine NWR), the Fort Robinson area, and at DeSoto NWR. This gallery
contains some of those images. Enjoy.
