Since my retirement, my passions are nature photography (especially bird photography), landscape photography, and travel photography.
I have traveled and photographed sites along the Lewis and Clark Trail, the Oregon Trail, the Mormon Trail, the Santa Fe Trail, and the Bozeman Trail. I have photographed Abraham Lincoln sites throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. Most recently I have begun visiting and photographing Civil War battlefields and museums throughout the country
My bird and wildlife photography has taken me to sites throughout the state of Illinois and also to sites throughout the state of Florida.
I have participated in 50 Elderhostel / Road Scholar programs throughout the country and many of my photo galleries shows memories of those wonderful experiences.
I am a lucky man to have had a job that I loved teaching biology in high school for 33 years and now I love my travel and photography "retirement". Please enjoy my photo galleries.
Many people think of the Everglades as a swamp - with deep water and huge cypress trees. In reality the Everglades is a marsh. Water levels are very shallow often just a few inches deep. In those areas that receive more water where organic material can accumulate and support the growth of small groups of trees (called tree islands). Each tree island is characterized by a particular type of tree and unique flora and fauna found there. Hence, the biodiversity of the Everglades.
One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited- Grand Tetons National Park. The mountains dominate but the Snake River and the wonderful wildlife of the area make it one of my favorite places to visit and photograph.
Utah offers many opportunities for outstanding landscape photography. These images from Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Escalente National Monument are a testament to the beauty of the Beehive State.

Waterfalls, wildlife, and geothermal wonders make Yellowstone National Park another "don't miss" destination.
Mesas and monoliths characterize the landscapes of Navajo country. Red rocks and ancient Indian ruins characterize the areas around Flagstaff. Deserts and cacti dominate more southern regions of the state (Phoenix and Tucson). A great place to visit.
One of my favorite places to photograph flowers and garden settings. Few things are more relaxing than a walk through the Japanese Garden at this great site.
